Baranowicze is a city in Belarus, first mentioned in 1706. At the beginning of the 18th century it was still the private property of the Rozwadowski family, and today it is a city of nearly 200,000 people. The main driving force behind the city's economic development was the establishment of the Warsaw-Moscow and Lviv-Vilnius railroads. Baranovichi has many attractions in its tourist offer. The most important of these is undoubtedly the Orthodox Cathedral of the Protection of the Mother of God, built in 1931 in neoclassical style. Another attraction of the city is the wooden Church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross, built in 1924, which is one of the more architecturally recognizable wooden buildings of the early 20th century. Being in Baranavichy, it is also worth visiting the railroad museum, which will delight not only enthusiasts, but also people not connected with rail transportation. It has many exhibits of already historic steam locomotives or diesel trains, which are a representation of the entire era of rail transport of Baranavichy. Every tourist will find many other attractions and characteristic buildings in the city. These include old farm buildings, a fire station, a gymnasium or the building of a Polish bank. While in Baranovichi it is also worth seeing the historic railroad station, the monument to the Hungarian officer Lt. Col. Arthur Buol or the historic market square, where you can take advantage of the offer of local cafes to drink aromatic coffee or eat a tasty regional meal in peace.
