Biala Tserkva - less than 90 km from Kyiv, an industrial city with a population of nearly 200,000, which was once the easternmost stronghold of the First Republic. It was here that the first peasant-Cossack uprising in right-bank Ukraine, led by Krzysztof Kosinski, broke out, as a stone monument reminds us. Worth mentioning is the fact that in 1774 Stanislaw August Poniatowski granted Biala Cerkiew to Hetman Franciszek Ksawery Branicki, whose family played a great role in the development of the city and remained in his dominion until 1914. It was during this period that the most significant of the temples that have survived to this day were built, as well as the famous Alexandria Park. Worth a visit is certainly the Orthodox temple of the Preobrazhany Cathedral, founded by Aleksandra Branitskaya, which is distinguished by its classicist portal and golden dome. Inside you'll find a five-level iconostasis and a dome decorated with frescoes. In the city you will also find the building of Branicki's winter palace, which now houses a school, but the city's biggest attraction is the vast Alexandria Park, which covers an area of 297 hectares and is the largest dendrological park in the country and has the largest collection of plants in Ukraine. It provides an opportunity to relax in nature and organize at least a picnic surrounded by beautiful vegetation. Bila Tserkva is an interesting place to visit away from the big cities.
