Seemingly an inconspicuous city - it might seem that the neighboring Silesian capital, Katowice, takes all the shine away from it. Chorzow , however, has much to offer visitors. An unquestionable landmark is Legendia, formerly known as Silesian Merry Town, which is the oldest funfair in Poland. In recent years, its activities have been reactivated, new attractions have been installed, and the place has regained its former glory. We are sure that no one will be bored here - neither the young nor the slightly older.

Animal fans will also find something for themselves in Chorzow - an attraction that guarantees a pleasant day out is the local zoo, located in the Silesian Park. It is the third largest zoo in Poland, after those in Gdansk and Poznan. Species cared for here include alpaca, eland, emu, cheetah, panda, porcupine, kob, kudu, lion, rhinoceros, giraffe and llama.

Also located in the aforementioned Silesian Park is the Silesian Stadium, which served as the national stadium in the past, where the Polish national soccer team played its matches. Until the National Stadium was built in Warsaw, it was the largest of its kind in Poland. Currently, it is the National Athletics Stadium, and due to its universal design, it hosts athletes of various disciplines, in addition to hosting music events. It is impossible not to mention here that such stars as AC/DC, Metallica, Mötley Crüe, The Rolling Stones, U2, Guns N' Roses, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Genesis, The Police, Pearl Jam and Rammstein have given concerts here, attracting tens of thousands of fans from all over Poland.

Also a characteristic element of Chorzow's landscape is the Silesian Planetarium, rising on Park Mountain - the largest and oldest astronomical observatory in the country. Visitors can enjoy a mapped portion of the sky from anywhere on the planet thanks to a huge projector, an astronomical observatory, a sundial in the courtyard or a seismological station.

Those curious about how people used to live have the opportunity to visit the Upper Silesian Ethnographic Park in Chorzow, which features 70 wooden buildings that were used by former residents of the Upper Silesian region, including cottages, a tannery and a hay shed, among others. The open-air museum will be a great place for those who want to go back in time a bit, those interested in ethnography and those curious about old customs. The good news is that it is only two kilometers from our stop at Powstańców Śląskich Square.
