Czersk is a town located in the southern part of Pomeranian Voivodeship, in Chojnice County, populated by approximately 10,000 people. The urban-rural commune of Czersk is surrounded by the Tuchola Forest complex. Nearby there are two large rivers Brda and Wda. Before we move on to the qualities of the area, let's check out what is interesting to see in Czersk itself. What Czersk attractions does it have to offer its visitors?
The St. Mary Magdalene Church is considered to be the town's greatest monument. The Neo-Gothic temple boasts rich furnishings and an interesting body. The most valuable relics of the church are the Romanesque stoup and the late Renaissance main altar with paintings by Herman Han. Another interesting object is the Honorary Cemetery with tombstones from the period of World War II. There is also an obelisk dedicated to the victims of fascism. The center of the city is marked by Ostrowskiego Square - a revitalized space that has been awarded many times for its skillful combination of functionality and aesthetics. The Square includes the famous trout fountain, a pedestrian promenade, numerous stores and restaurants. During the season, the space is an arena for cultural events. Tourists with children should also visit Czera parks - Borowiacki, Kociewski and Kaszubski. The park alleys are a great place to play and rest. There are playgrounds waiting for little explorers, and charming alleys with benches for their guardians. Tourist attractions of Czersk are not only the town itself, however...
In Czersk commune it is also worth visiting several other places. Their list opens with Fojutowo, where there is a unique aqueduct built in the nineteenth century. This monument of hydrotechnical architecture allows the crossing of two rivers: the Czerska Struga and the Brda Canal. Location of the crossing among pine forests gives an amazing effect. In the village of Odry, in turn, it is worth visiting the "Stone Craters" reserve - which, interestingly, is the oldest and largest of its kind after the famous British Stonehenge.
First and foremost, however, this region of Poland is famous for its countless forests, which are a perfect place for walking, cycling or mushroom picking. Those who prefer an active lifestyle can try their hand at running events, regattas or canoeing. Ostrowite Lake with its modern Recreation Centre and beach has a lot to offer. Here you can rent water equipment (boats, canoes, pedal boats). The reservoir is a paradise for anglers. Rytel, the second village in the commune after Czersk as far as the number of inhabitants is concerned, also has a lot to offer to the lovers of active leisure. The village is called the Pearl of the Brda River. It is a perfect place both for a start of a canoeing trip and for a longer rest surrounded by nature.
People who prefer full stomachs and discovering new tastes to sports and recreation should visit Łęg, where the local Circle of Rural Housewives "Łężanki" promotes the culinary heritage of the region. The neo-gothic church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is also worth seeing in Łęg.
