Lubin is a city in the south-western part of the country, it is located in the Lower Silesia province. It is interesting to note that the name of the city comes from the word lubić, probably the name of the former Lubin was referred to as a favorite place or beloved town.
The first mention of today's Lubin dates back to the 12th century; in the city's later history, the land belonged to the Prussians. After World War II, residents of German origin were displaced after the Soviet army entered the city. Unfortunately, Lubin suffered greatly during World War II, the city was almost completely destroyed.
For the post-war history of the city, the discovery of copper deposits was very important from the point of view of the economic development of the city. It largely financed the construction of housing estates, schools or kindergartens. To this day, deposits of copper, as well as silver, are still being mined. It is in Lubin, as well as in Legnica, that some of the largest deposits in Europe and the world are located, where one of the largest state-owned companies, KGHM S.A., operates.
Noteworthy sights include the Church of Our Lady of Czestochowa, a nice Roman Catholic Gothic temple. Another attraction of the city is the castle chapel, a remnant of medieval buildings.
The bus stop Sindbad is located at the PKS station in Lubin, on Maria Sklodowska-Curie Street. From there you can start your sightseeing. You are only 1km away from the aforementioned castle cathedral, which is about a 12-minute walk.
