Welcome by bus to Strzegom!
Strzegom is a town in Lower Silesia Province, located on the Strzegomka River. The name derives from the word "strzec" or from the word "shear", as the name of a place to cut heads. It is now known as the Granite Heart of Poland.
The greatest development of the town took place in the 19th century. Mainly the stone industry began to develop. The good fortune was interrupted by the First and Second World Wars, but the city quickly rebuilt itself. Today, many buildings in Europe and around the world are made of Strzegom granite.
Towering over the city, one of the largest and most beautiful in Lower Silesia, is the Basilica of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. Also an attraction is the medieval Market Square with the Market Tower, preserved from the second half of the 14th century. The city's defensive walls from the mid-14th century and the Beak Tower, located in Strzegom's Planty, are also historical landmarks.
Strzegom is surrounded by the Strzegom foothills, which include the Cross Mountain. It is a great vantage point overlooking the town and the surrounding area. Many tourists are also attracted by the annual Folklore Festival or the Granite Festival, where we can see many stone sculptures in the open air.
