About 100,000 people live here. Anyone who decides to visit the area will certainly not regret their decision, as Tarnów really has a lot to offer its visitors. Importantly, those interested in discovering the place can conveniently reach Tarnów by Sindbad bus.
Tarnów sightseeing
A trip to Tarnów should certainly start with a visit to the Tarnów Information Center (TCI), where maps, leaflets, tips and recommendations for monuments, accommodation and restaurants in Tarnów await. The TCI is located at the market square, where several major attractions have gathered. Certainly among the highlights on the map of Tarnow is the town hall, located in the middle of the market square. Its features include a 30-meter high tower, an attic and a risalit with a staircase. Nearby is Tarnów's most representative monument, the Minor Basilica (Cathedral) of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built at the beginning of the 14th century. In the temple it is worth looking at the richly decorated south portal, inspired by a woodcut by Albrecht Durer. Next to the cathedral is the Nicholas House. It dates from 1524, and elements of the Gothic-Renaissance style can be seen in its construction. Walking from the market along Żydowska Street, we come to the bima, the remains of the oldest synagogue in the city. The first wooden synagogue was built in this place as early as 1582. Later a brick building was erected, which was destroyed by the Germans in 1939.
Beyond the market, it is also worth seeing the monument to the Catharine player in Gen. Bem Square, the Ethnographic Museum presenting, among other things, an interesting exhibition on Roma culture, the Old Cemetery - a necropolis with a history of more than two hundred years, the ruins of the Tarnowski Castle and the Holy Trinity Church from the 16th century. Those looking for a moment's respite from sightseeing in the city can relax in Strzelecki Park or J. Jakubowski Planty
