Unna is a district town in Germany, belonging to the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, in the Arnsberg district. The town was first mentioned in 1032, and received its municipal rights in 1288.
While here, in the Nikolai district, the half-timbered buildings are worth seeing. Also noteworthy is the Gothic Evangelical Church from the 14th century, whose spire was rebuilt in 1863 according to the plans of Cologne Cathedral's chief architect Ernst Friedrich Zwirner.
The local Center for International Light Art. which is a museum of light art, is the only one of its kind in the world - be sure to take a look there, as such an opportunity will not be found anywhere else.
Another interesting building in Unna is Cappenberg Castle, which is a former monastery. From its vantage point, you can admire the Ruhr region. On the castle grounds there is also a water tower from 1899, restored in 1992 and listed as a historic monument.
