
Wschowa - a city in Lubuskie Province, lies on the border of Greater Poland and Silesia, in the former land of Wschowa, of which it was the capital. It has a population of just under 14,000, and in 1365 King Casimir III the Great married the Rev. Jadwiga of Żagań, and left the relics of St. Stanislaus as a memento. Wschowa was considered one of the seven richest cities of the Polish Kingdom.
Start your tour of the city from the market square and the town hall, which is the seat of the municipal authorities. The shape of the town hall comes from the construction carried out in 1860-1870. On the front of the town hall is the city coat of arms depicting the scene of the coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The town fountain from the 18th century is also worth seeing in the market square. The original sculpture from the fountain is in the Museum of Wschowa Land, which is the former house of Pastor Waleriusz Herberg. On the other hand, on the western frontage of the market square are Baroque townhouses dating back to the 17th century, which housed the royal residence during the Saxon era.
Other attractions of the city are the churches, such as the Evangelical Church of the Manger of Christ from the early 17th century, the Parish Church of St. Stanislaus the Bishop and the Church of the Holy Cross. St. Stanislaus the Martyr and Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the branch church of the Holy Trinity, as well as the Jesuit college, the Franciscan monastery complex and the Evangelical Cemetery.
