Zgorzelec is a seemingly small city with a population of 30,000, located on the border with Germany. Zgorzelec on the Polish side and Görlitz on the German side are actually one city divided by a river, since 1945, after the border was established on the Lusatian Neisse River. Getting off at our stop located at the parking lot near the Shell - Jedrzychowice station, it is best to get to the center by car or cab. The sightseeing should start with the most characteristic building, the House of Culture. The building was erected in 1902 as a memorial to the two emperors, Wilhelm I and Frederick III, who died in 1888. Eventually, since 1904, it also became a museum. What distinguishes the building is its 42-meter dome topped by the imperial crown. Also worth a visit is the Greek Boulevard and a stroll along the banks of the Lusatian Neisse River. To find yourself in Görlitz, just cross one of the bridges, and this part of the city offers more than 3,500 monuments, the highest number among all German cities. At every turn you will find historic fountains, sculptures, beautiful gates, ornaments and much more. It is definitely worth coming here for more than one day.
