Belchatow - tourist attractions and sights of the city. What is worth seeing?

Belchatow is a city located in central Poland, in the Lodz Voivodeship, on the Rakówka River, in the historic land of Sieradz. It was granted city rights in 1737 and then again in 1925 after being degraded in 1870. The name Belchatow comes from Belchat, the founder of the settlement.

When visiting Belchatow, it is worthwhile to see at least the lignite coal mine - one of the most innovative mines in the country, which can be visited in several ways. One is a standard tour that includes a tradition room and viewing the works from special viewing terraces. An additional option is to tour the workings and admire the primary machinery. Another option is the so-called non-standard tour, during which you can look into other parts of the mine.

Another tourist option is the Olszewski Manor - a manor and park complex, built in the 18th century in the late Baroque style. A park, also from the 18th century, has been preserved at the manor. Many of the building's original elements have survived the test of time, including fragments of doors and windows, a mosaic parquet floor, and a fireplace. The manor house was occupied by the Olszewski family until 1987. Later it was purchased by the Belchatow City Council. It gained its grandeur after the completion of renovations in 1998.

There are also resorts in the Belchatow area, by the artificial reservoir, which offer a number of attractions for summer visitors, such as a swimming pool, horse stud, tennis court, indoor swimming pool, kayaks and pedal boats.
