Bilgoraj is the second largest city in the southern part of Lublin Province, located in the vicinity of Roztoczanski National Park. The municipality is an ideal place for those craving a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Its location in the Sandomierska Basin, along with numerous hiking and biking trails, is perfect for those seeking outdoor activities.
The town was famous for the production of sieves, which is why you can find the Sitar Homestead - an open-air museum that consists of several wooden buildings where you can learn how sieves were once produced and a sieve maker's monument in the center of town commemorating the town's history.
Bilgoraj is also a Borderland Town, where you can find buildings that perfectly reflect the architecture and culture of Poland at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Also worth seeing is the late Baroque Church of the Holy Trinity and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, or the post-Franciscan Church of St. Mary Magdalene, erected on the site of an earlier church from 1644 founded by Jan Zamojski.
The local restaurants offer regional cuisine, the most important of which is Pieróg Bilgorajski, which resembles a pate in form and is made of buckwheat groats, cottage cheese and pork fat.
