The heyday of the city dates back to the second half of the 19th century, when Jan Albina Goetze, a German, arrived in Brzesko, later the founder of Okocim Brewery, which soon became the largest producer of the golden drink in present-day Poland. The Goetze family had a tremendous impact on the development of the town, taking due care of its employees and residents. Today, the Okocim brewery is part of the Carlsberg Polska concern.

The centerpiece of the city is, of course, the Market Square, which is well worth a look when visiting Brzesko. Noteworthy here is the brick City Hall from the early 20th century, which, along with the Gothic St. James Church, is one of the most valuable monuments in the city. Another is the statue of St. Florian, erected in 1731 and founded by the townspeople to protect the city from subsequent fires. Those thirsty for rest will find solace in a cafe or on one of the wooden benches set up around the entire main square.

From the stop on Participants of Resistance Street, where our buses stop, in five minutes you will reach the Regional Museum, which is located just off the aforementioned Market Square, in one of the historic houses. The walls of the living room of the apartment on Kosciuszko Street have been embellished with paintings by Zygmunt Rozwadowski, Erazm Fabianski and Feliks Hanusz, and the interior of the room with 19th-century furniture. The bedroom is full of paintings from under the brush of Aleksandr Augustynowicz, Jadwiga Skalecka and Ludwik Stasiak, and there is no shortage of exhibits in the form of a bed, a Ludwik-style armchair or a bas-relief of Jozef Pilsudski. The third room features an exhibition of photographs of old Brzesko, while the last room is dedicated to prominent figures, including the Cracow actor Jerzy Peteres and the inventor of the field compass, Colonel Jan Bezard.
