Ciechanow is located in Mazowieckie Voivodeship. The town is the seat of Ciechanow County and lies on the Lydynia River.
The city has one of the most beautiful water towers in the world, a church that was a bakery, and a famous brewery. The town hall is also an interesting place - the famous Italian architect Henryk Marconi, author of many famous buildings in Poland, including Warsaw's Hotel Europejski, took part in its design.
Undoubtedly, the most important attraction of Ciechanow is the castle of the Dukes of Mazovia, which includes the outer walls and towers. The castle is also a place of historical and educational events - periodically organized "Encounters with History" take place here, during which one can see, among other things, demonstrations of historical reconstruction groups.
Ciechanow is also famous for its beer. Ciechan Brewery was founded in 1864 and has been in continuous operation ever since. It can be visited by appointment. There is a store and a pub next to the brewery, so you can stock up on liquor or try it on the spot.
The water tower is one of Ciechnow's most original attractions, recognized by The World Geography Portal, which named it one of the most unusual towers in the world. The brick building has a tower with a coat of arms and a clock. It witnessed tragic events - during World War II, 50 people were killed by the Germans in the courtyard of the town hall.
In Ciechanow there is also a temple with a very interesting history. This is the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which was converted into a bakery in Napoleonic times.
