
Innsbruckis an Austrian city, the capital of the Tyrol, located at an altitude of 574 meters above sea level, in the Inn River valley in the heart of the Alps. The past meets the future here. The nearby Igls regularly hosts World Cup luge competitions, and in January the world's best ski jumpers compete on the Bergisel hill as part of the Four Hills Tournament.
In summer there is no question of boredom either, the attractions that this beautiful city offers are certainly not lacking. Especially recommended are the sights of the Old Town. These include the famous Golden Roof - a building whose small balcony has a canopy decorated with 2657 gilded copper tiles, the representative Maria Theresia Street - Innsbruck's main drag and main shopping street with the Kaufhaus Tyrol department store, or the Hofburg imperial residence with its grand ballroom and baroque cellar.
One of the city's major attractions is also the Nordkettenbahnen, a cable car that takes you practically from the center into the alpine backwoods, up to 2269 meters above sea level. On the outskirts of Innsbruck, visit the Alpine Zoo and numerous atmospheric alpine villages.
Innsbruck's unique charm also lies in the dazzling panorama of the mountain peaks surrounding the city. That's why, both during winter and summer vacations, it's worth planning an ascent of the 2,000-meter Seegrube, which offers beautiful views of the surrounding area.
Summer is the season of cultural festivals, such as the Early Music Festival and the Dance Festival. The Innsbrucker Promenadenkonzerte Festival is a real treat for brass band lovers. Among the 90 accommodations of all categories, you can find the right lodging without the least bit of trouble. Numerous restaurants will satisfy the stomach of any tourist. And amateurs of nightlife will be entertained by 60 establishments: pubs, bars and discos.
The Tyrolean capital is therefore an ideal destination for travel. It is an excellent base for exploring the Alps, whether by bicycle, on foot thanks to a network of excellent trails or on skis, thanks to perfectly groomed slopes.
