Le Mans is a city located in northern France . Its origins date back to ancient times, where records speak of the Roman city of Vindinium. The town was inhabited by Cenomanians and was also called Civitas Cenomanorum, after the Celtic tribe that inhabited it.
The top charming town is well worth seeing, while visiting the monumental Romanesque-Gothic Cathedral of St. Julian, which is nearly 140 meters long and many of its elements date back to the 12th century. La Mans also retains traces of the Roman Empire, such as its fortified walls. Strolling through the narrow streets, it is worth seeing the half-timbered houses and looking into one of the many French restaurants. Where we will taste culinary specialties with a glass of local wine.
However, Le Mans is not only the remains of the Roman Empire, but above all the place where the most famous race track in the world is located. It is here that the 24-hour Le Mans 24-hour race is held annually. The race has been held invariably once a year since 1923, so for almost 100 years. The participants' task is to drive as many laps as possible in 24 hours, hence the name of this unusual race.
