Visit by bus Sindbad Maidstone
The capital of the county of Kent, which is known as the gardens or orchard of England. Now a city of more than 150,000 people, it traces its origins to the Middle Ages, when it was a village owned by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The city took advantage of its location on the River Medway and became commercially important, which led to its rapid growth. Thanks to the paper industry and brewing, Maidstone prospered, and even the Grammar School was established here in 1594 and brought many educated people to the town thanks to it. In the 1970s, industry began to decline and the town dimmed a bit. Today's city is an uncluttered center with many exclusion zones, full of cafes, restaurants and stores. Getting off at our stop located at Maidstone Services - Jct 8 M20, the center is best reached by car or cab. The city is certainly a great place to relax outdoors, as you will find plenty of green oases and parks with Mote Park at the forefront. It's a wonderful place for both a picnic and a sailboat ride on the local lake. The Medway River is a tributary of the Thames and offers boat trips, but also the possibility of kayaking. In the city you will also find a vehicle museum worth a visit. You certainly can't get bored here.
