Nowe Miasto Lubawskie - a trip around the Drwęca River!
A town in Poland located in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, the seat of Nowe Miasto County. It is located between the Lubawskie Garb and the Iławskie Lake District, on the Drwęca River.
Nowe Miasto was founded in 1325 by land komtur Otto von Lutterberg, receiving a location privilege at the same time. After the end of the Thirteen Years' War, under the provisions of the Second Peace of Torun in 1466, Nowe Miasto was restored to the Kingdom of Poland, receiving the status of a city directly subject to the sovereign.
Due to the numerous bicycle paths around the Drwęca River, we encourage you to rent bicycles and organize a day trip - the local trails are dozens of kilometers long, so there is somewhere to spin. In the course you can visit numerous attractions and monuments located in neighboring towns.
Another recreational place is the City Park, whose history dates back to the 19th century, where not only will you relax in nature, but you can also catch one of the cultural events that are held here periodically.
Of the sights in the sacred category, we recommend St. Thomas the Apostle Church, which is decorated with altars from the 17th and 18th centuries.
A geocaching route awaits those who like a challenge - following it, you will search for hidden treasures in the area of Nowe Miasto Lubawskie using a GPS receiver. So be sure to get in shape beforehand, because there will be a lot of running. The game is won by the one who finds the special container and reports it on the indicated website.
