Ostroda - attractions for tourists

Ostroda is located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, west of Olsztyn. It is only 40 kilometers from the regional capital. Other important towns in its vicinity are: Olsztynek, Lubawa, Morąg, Pasłęk and Iława. As befits a town in this part of Poland, Ostroda boasts access to a lake, or even several bodies of water. The most important of these is Lake Drwęckie, whose shores are adjacent to the city center. Other important bodies of water, which constitute the modern shape of Ostróda, are: Lake Pauzeńskie and Lake Morliny.

It is the lakes that are counted among Ostróda's greatest attractions. The first fiddle is played here by the aforementioned Drwęckie Lake with its thoughtfully developed waterfront, whose showpiece is a wooden pier with a stylish gazebo. The waterfront of Lake Drweckie serves as a flagship promenade and at the same time one of Ostroda's main tourist attractions. Seasonal outdoor events are also held here, and the nearby cafes offer the best coffee and sweet food. There is also a multimedia fountain with a fisherman's statue, a 2,500-seat amphitheater and something for the truly adventurous - a water-ski lift, where you can learn wakeboarding. Speaking of lakes, there is no shortage of places for swimming and lazing - the best areas for sunbathing can be found on Lake Drwęckie (where you can rent water equipment and venture into the basin) and Lake Sajmino.

What other attractions does Ostroda have to offer its visitors? Certainly it is a cruise on the Elblag Canal. The canal is a unique waterway, which in 2007 was listed as one of the 7 Wonders of Poland by Rzeczpospolita.
