Skoczow - a city located in the south of the Silesian province, near the mountains. In August, the Beskid Culture Week takes place here, which invites tourists to enjoy a full range of music, folklore and traditions of Polish highlanders and invited foreigners. Groups from each region present skits or dances related to their culture on stage. Similar performances can be seen during this event in Wisla, Oswiecim or Zywiec.
In the center is the market square with a medieval layout of houses. The town hall from the 18th century has a historic tower with an openwork lantern and a Rococo-style ball end, where documents from the 18th and 19th centuries were found in the 1990s. Right next door is the so-called Sarkander House, which is the birthplace of the famous 16th century saint John Sarkander. A brick cellar with a cradle vault, now a chapel, has been preserved there. The Sarkander Trail, a route related to the life of the saint, begins in the town itself.
Thanks to its location, Skoczow is a great place for travelers who love hiking in the mountains. Kaplicowka is a hill not only associated with the 1995 pilgrimage of Pope John Paul II, but above all an ideal place to admire the breathtaking panorama of the Silesian Beskid. In winter you can also use the ski lift.
