Welcome by bus to Starogard Gdanski!
Starogard Gd anski is a town in Pomeranian Voivodeship, on the Wierzyca River. It is one of the oldest towns in Pomerania.
During the times of the Polish Noble Republic, the city was an important social and political center of the entire Pomerania. In the 19th century, despite the Prussian captivity, the level of industry increased greatly. A boiler factory, a vodka and liquor factory and a complex of mills were established then. To this day, some of them still perform their original functions or are historical monuments.
Also worth seeing are the defensive walls and towers, the Medieval Market Square, the City Hall, the Wiechert Palace with the mill complex, the neo-Gothic building of the City Hall and the Barracks. There is also a Municipal Stadium named after Kazimierz Deyna, who himself started his soccer adventure there.
Starogard Gdanski is best visited with a self-guide at the market square, on the trail of Kazik Deyna or on the trail in the footsteps of the 2nd Rokitnian Cavalry Regiment. Just 2 km from the city is reportedly the only Museum of Slavic Mythology in Europe.
