.Also the ruby sundial located in the center of the city is an unusual tourist attraction, it also serves a didactic function for local schoolchildren. The authors of the Tychy sundial are Henryk Jan Dominiak and physicist Dr. Lucjan Pajdzik, who works for Oxford University. The sundial's face is two meters in diameter and was built from three varieties of granite. The gnomon, the wind rose, the ring with the signs of the zodiac and the clock's descriptions were created from stainless steel. The 24 hours are marked on the clock, while those in which the sun indicates the time are symbolized by star rubies.
