Eindhoven is a city located in the south of the Netherlands on the Dommel River. It is famous as a center of the electronics industry - such global giants as Philips and DAF have their headquarters and production facilities there.
The most valuable monument in the city is the neo-Gothic St. Catherine's Catholic Church from 1867 with twin towers clearly towering over the area. Eindhoven is home to museums - you can find there, among others, museums related to the strongly rooted industry there. Interactive Philips Museum will delight children, but also adults will not leave indifferent to the puzzles and riddles present there. The DAF museum, on the other hand, will appeal to lovers of automobiles, especially trucks. In addition, in Eindhoven you can visit the Van Abbemuseum museum of modern art.
For relaxation it is worth going to the Speelpark de Splinter park abounding in beautiful playgrounds and many attractions for children, or to the Down Town Gourmet Market, where you can taste dishes from all cuisines of the world, even so exotic as... Icelandic.
There are many bicycle paths in the city, especially picturesque are those along the Dommel River. The strict center of Eindhoven is free of car traffic. So it is worth a small amount to rent a bicycle for the whole day and discover the city from the perspective of two wheels.

Eindhoven is home to a rail and road hub, as well as an airport serving numerous European flights. Eindhoven Airport is located about 8 kilometers west of the city center and the main train station, from which you can reach major Dutch cities. Buses Sindbad stop right next to the central station. In Elk you will find two city beaches, both of which are sandy, although in truth in high season it will probably be difficult to find even a meter of free space anyway. There is also a sizable park, several children's playgrounds and a bunch of playrooms. Elk also has an interesting museum, offering, among other things, a ride on a narrow-gauge train.
How to get to and from Elk - buses and timetables
To get from or to Elk, for example, you can use a bus. Buses Sindbad leave from Elk's PKS station, which is located right next to the railroad station. Therefore, if you happen to be going to Elk by train, but then want to change to another means of transport, the change itself will not take you more than a few minutes.
In our opinion, however, it is worth getting to Elk by bus, as trains in high season can be overloaded with people heading to the Baltic cities.
The PKS station in Elk, despite the fact that Google shows that it no longer exists, still serves our buses. It may not currently be as impressive as Elk's train station, but nevertheless our buses go to and from Elk from station one.
