Zywiec is located in the middle of the Beskid Mountains. It is, of course, surrounded by the Beskid Zywiecki, but right next to it you will also find the Beskid Slaski or Beskid Maly. If you're a beginner hiker, it's worth climbing Skrzyczne, the highest peak in the Silesian Beskid, which rises more than 1,200 meters above sea level. In Beskid Zywiecki, Babia Gora awaits you with 1,725 meters above sea level, making it the highest peak in the area.
Several roads lead to the summit. One of them is the Akademiks' Pass. When deciding on this particular route, you need to be aware that it's a one-way road, and before the summit itself you'll face a short climb over rocks using chains attached to the rocks. Therefore, if you manifest a fear of heights, you should consider a slightly longer but easier route.
