Chehrin (ukr. Чигирин) is a town in central Ukraine, located in the Cherkasy region, on the Tymba River, a tributary of the Dnieper. Although it now has the status of a small town, Chehrin has a very important historical significance, especially in the context of the history of the Cossacks and the birth of Ukrainian statehood.
The most important point in the city's history was the Chehrin fortress, which was one of the main defense centers in the region in the 17th century. This castle played a strategic role during the war with the Ottoman Empire and during the war with Poland. Although the fortress was destroyed by the Turks and Russians, its ruins still stand as a symbol of Ukrainian resistance and have great historical significance.
Although Chehrin is not a large city today, it has a rich cultural heritage that commemorates its former role in Ukrainian history. Chehrin is home to many monuments commemorating the struggle for independence and national heroes like Bohdan Khmelnytsky.
The city is also home to the Chehrin Museum, which presents the history of the city, the fortress and the Cossack period. Also worth a visit is St. Michael's Church, dating back to the 18th century, which is one of the region's most important religious monuments.

TOMASZOW MAZOWIECKI
Despite its name, Tomaszow Mazowiecki is a city in the Lodz Voivodeship - one of the largest and also the youngest. It is located between Warsaw and Piotrków Trybunalski, about 50 kilometers southeast of Lodz.
It has established its history as a center of textile industry thriving since the 19th-century industrial revolution. There used to be as many as 75 factories in Tomaszow, but with the collapse of the Polish People's Republic most of them ceased their operations.
One of the city's interesting historical and geological attractions is the Nagórzyckie Grottoes, a nearly 160-meter-long Underground Tourist Route created in an old sand mine. When passing through Tomaszów Mazowiecki, it is also impossible to miss the spectacular Blue Springs Nature Reserve or the Pilica River Open-Air Museum, where, in addition to numerous historical reconstructions related to the region or military exhibits, you can visit... the forest toilet of Tsar Nicholas II.
Getting to Tomaszów Mazowiecki
The city can be reached efficiently by train or long-distance bus, thanks to its good connections with other surrounding urban centers. PKS Tomaszow Mazowiecki bus station is located a short distance from the train station and the public transport loop. Thanks to this public transport complex, it is possible to move efficiently around the city and its surroundings. Buses from Tomaszów leave, among others, to the Blue Springs Nature Reserve. On the other hand, by bus, Tomaszów can be reached from many cities near and far, such as Lodz, Warsaw and Lviv.
Even though Tomaszow is rarely associated with a city that is attractive for tourists, it is still worth a visit, as it has a unique atmosphere and can impress with its peculiar mix of not so distant industrial history with the beauty of the surrounding nature.
