While in Genoa, take a stroll through the narrow streets called caruggi, viewing larger and smaller squares, historic churches and numerous palaces along the way. The most important church in the city is the 12th-century San Lorenzo Cathedral, with its rich collections of sacred art. Along and near Via Garibaldi Street one can find many historic palaces. 42 of them are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Genoa is also home to a 17th-century reconstruction of the house where Christopher Columbus lived.

Genoa is located at the crossroads of highways - roads from Turin and Milan lead here. Near the city, or more precisely 7 kilometers from its center, there is Christopher Columbus Airport.
