WUPPERTAL
Wuppertal was founded in 1929, from the merger of 7 small local towns. It owes its name to its location in the valley of the Wupper River - meaning "valley" . A significant role was played here until the 1970s by the textile industry, but today this is a thing of the past, the city is modern and vibrant.
